The IB MYP emphasizes conceptual learning. It says “conceptual learning focuses on powerful organizing ideas that have relevance within and across subject groups”. Therefore, MYP Key Concepts serve both disciplinary and interdisciplinary learning. Each subject group engages with the MYP Key Concepts in unique ways where each Key Concept provides interdisciplinary breadth and points of contact for transferring understanding across subject areas. These posters were designed to help educators make conceptual learning come alive in their classrooms.

Use these posters in your classrooms and collaborative teaching teams to strengthen understanding of Key Concepts by allowing them to note the unique disciplinary perspectives while also making interdisciplinary connections.

MYP Key Concept Posters Through Subject Lens
In the IB, Conceptual learning focuses on powerful organizing ideas that have relevance within and across subject groups (From Principles to Practice, page 13). MYP Key Concepts thus serve both disciplinary and interdisciplinary learning - Each subject group in the MYP engages with these “broad, organizing, powerful ideas” in unique ways, while each key concept also provides “interdisciplinary breadth” and “ points of contact for transferring understanding” across the subject groups. Our illustrated posters are designed to view the Key Concepts from the lens of different subjects. Use these posters in your classrooms and collaborative teaching teams to strengthen understanding of Key Concepts by allowing them to note the unique disciplinary perspectives while also making interdisciplinary connections.
