Skills are the need of the hour in a fast-paced, dynamic world. It comes as no surprise then that content planning for the DP curriculum is increasingly calling for a greater focus on incorporating ATL skills with taught content. Building relevant skills help students keep up with real-world problems and identify solutions for a rapidly changing world- something that content knowledge alone is unable to equip them with. The ATL skills lend themselves organically to content and there are many different ways for educators to weave them into lessons.

So the big question is, as educators how can we create intentional opportunities to build these skills in our classes and integrate them into our curriculums?  This ATL skill mapping template is your go-to tool for precisely that! You can use this template to align the assessment objectives of your subject with different ATL skills and their indicators. This will give you a clear idea of the kinds of skills – and at what competency level – your students will need to build in order to successfully achieve subject objectives. Moreover, since school is the last stop on their way to the real world, this would be an excellent opportunity to help students become college-ready and arm them with the skills of the future!

You’ll learn to:

  • Integrate the ATL skills into your classes by making them an integral part of your curriculum planning
  • Map the skills against the assessment objectives in your subjects
  • Help your students become independent learners by making them more self-aware in their learning journeys
