Join our virtual workshops to foster student agency, develop interdisciplinary learning, and learn to gamify your MYP classroom! Discover practical strategies to promote self-directed learning, create impactful interdisciplinary units for your students, and increase student engagement.

Amplifying IDUs through real-world projects

10:15 – 11:15 am HKT (60 minutes)

We know the power of interdisciplinary units for real world impact, but writing them and finding others to collaborate can be challenging. Kyle Wagner will help you explore innovative ways to design IDUs that extend beyond the classroom, seamlessly integrating content and skills across subjects. Leave with a customised IDU for immediate implementation.

Boosting agency through gamification

What is motivating your learners? Having a fun-first mentality in a classroom has students engage with materials in new and curious ways. Join long-standing educator Logan Stratman to discover the benefits and challenges of conducting game-based learning in inquiry-based classrooms.

Alison Yang, with 22 years of teaching experience, currently serves as the MYP Coordinator at ESF Discovery College in Hong Kong. She has taught at various levels, including primary school, secondary school, and university.

Committed to student empowerment, Alison advocates for self-directed learning and believes in fostering decision-making for increased engagement and academic success. Active in professional development, Alison frequently participates in various educational conferences.

Kyle Wagner

[Co] Learning Experience Designer
and PBL Expert, Transform
Educational Consulting Limited

Kyle Wagner is the founder and lead [co] learning designer of Transform Educational Consulting Limited, an organisation that empowers educators globally to create socially aware citizens through project-based experiences. Kyle's framework for developing these experiences has been used by over 1,000 educators worldwide to help students publish books, create their own small businesses, lead scientific investigations, and even influence policy change.

As an author, course developer, and podcast host, Kyle guides schools in fostering student-centred environments. Kyle is a former classroom teacher, program coordinator, and instructional coach at leading International Schools — including High Tech High and Futures Academy.

Logan Andrew Stratman

Learning Experience Lead,
Press Start Academy

Logan Stratman has been utilising learner-centric and game-based learning in his classrooms in Hong Kong and mainland China for the past eight years. His primary focus in education is to engage and empower learners through fun and creativity in a  game-based approach. Currently, Logan leads the educational outcomes for all courses held at Press Start Academy, which primarily caters to primary and lower-secondary school students. Additionally, he conducts educator training sessions on improvisation and delivery.

Press Start Academy is an education company that builds immersive, game-based, facilitated learning adventures founded on 21st-century skills, and trains teachers on how to do the same for their students.
