About the Talk
In this engaging workshop, Chris Frost and Miho Nishita deep-dive into planning for literacy units that balance both conceptual understanding and standards. Together, identify language and literacy concepts, write conceptual understandings and central ideas using standards, and deep dive into planning. Join our speakers as they share tools and strategies to transfer conceptual understandings, concepts and outcomes logically onto a planner and describe where language & literacy planning lies: disciplinary/ transdisciplinary. Explore how to use your planner in an effective and functional way in your everyday teaching and learning by justifying its logic and critiquing its limitations.
