About the talk

Interdisciplinary learning forms the cornerstone of the MYP program. The interdisciplinary unit (IDU) is an opportunity for students to immerse in authentic learning, connected to the real world. 

In this immersive talk with MYP educators and leaders Jitendra Pandey and Gurpreet Hanspal, focus on creating an IDU that is purposeful, authentic, and grounded in disciplines. Delve into teaching for synthesis and look into how students can integrate factual, conceptual and procedural knowledge from across disciplines. Jitendra Pandey
With extensive experience in MYP and DP, Jitendra is passionate about teaching and believes in connecting with his students as individuals. As an MYP Coordinator, he has successfully led his teams through programme verification and evaluation. Currently, he is the MYP Coordinator at the Stonehill International School.
Gurpreet Kaur
A passionate educator, Gurpreet Kaur began her teaching career in India. She was drawn to the way she could impact the teaching of science and mathematics in the minds of young students and this led her to the progressive constructivist approach of the IB programme and she moved to Indonesia. Gurpreet conducts workshops and has a deep understanding of the IB, IGCSE, CBSE, and Indonesian National Board. She is the Chair of the MYP schools in Indonesia and is actively involved in regional events. She is an IB Examiner - for Mathematics, Interdisciplinary Teaching and Learning and the Personal Project for the past many years. She is presently working with a team of educators from around the world for developing the Teacher Support Materials for the Mathematics guide.
Geraldine De Fazio
Gerry helps amplify innovation in education using her superpowers of kindness, curiosity and enthusiasm. Currently she serves as the Director of Learning, Strategy and Innovation at Montcrest School. Drawing on her experience as teacher and coordinator (PYP/MYP), she has worked with schools all over the world facilitating workshops, coaching and consulting for organizations including the IB and NoTosh.
