Rebecca chose to teach math in state-funded secondary schools in communities with many challenges. She then lectured in mathematics education at Manchester Metropolitan University and for the Open University before setting up her own business (Authentic Maths), running professional development for primary teachers. Since 2014, Rebecca has been working with expert primary math teachers to capture and share what they do. Rebecca is now freesharing the professional development that emerged from this project on her ‘RebeccaTheMathsLady’ YouTube channel (where she is now also posting videos about primary maths for locked-down parents). Rebecca started her teaching career in Hong Kong and has also taught in Jordan. She runs the discussion group ‘Math, Math Education, Math Culture’ on LinkedIn where experts from countries around the world have been discussing math education in-depth for the last eight years.
