Michael Wamaya
Forced to drop out of school due to financial constraints Michael Wamaya succeeded as a dancer with the Kenya Performing Arts group before moving on to become a well-known dance instructor with Anno’s Africa, a UK-based charity that offers alternative arts education to orphans and vulnerable children in Africa. Michael’s dedicated teaching of ballet in the Kibera slum area of Nairobi led to many underprivileged students becoming accomplished dancers and winning educational scholarships. His accomplishments in the field of arts education earned him a nomination as a top ten finalist for the Global Teacher Prize 2017 after which he founded Project Elimu to continue his mission of learning through the Arts.
